The University of Illinois Hospital and Health Sciences System and Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center (AIMMC) have teamed up to create a one year emergency ultrasound fellowship which incorporates didactic training, quality assurance training, clinical research and a robust hands-on experience.
The fellowship has existed since 2008 and offers a competitive rate of pay.
Responsibilities of the fellow include an average of nine clinical shifts per month, one 3-4 hour QA session per week plus a few bedside teaching sessions per month. Four clinical shifts per month will be at UIC Medical Center and two shifts will be at AIMMC. At both of these two locations the fellow will work as an attending physician with 24 hour resident coverage.
The fellow will also work 3-4 shifts per month at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Chicago which is a community hospital without resident coverage.
Clinical Hours: ~20 hours / week
